What is it like living in Old San Juan PR?

My boyfriend and I are currently living in Isla Verde, which is wonderful for the beach but we have considered moving to Old San Juan now that our lease is up. We know parking will be a hassle but how many times in your life to you get a chance to live in a 400+ year old city? Your suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
