Fireworks in Dana Point?

So ive booked a hotel in san juan capistrano, just a few miles away from Dana Point and i was just wondering if anyone has experienced fireworks down there. I was thinking about going to one of the shows that they have, but i kind of dont want to be in a huge crowd of people. If anyone knows a cool place to go where you can see various fireworks please let me know....or even sitting on the beach somewhere would be nice, i just dont know if you would be able to see fireworks from the actual beach. Thanks
